An enchanting B&B in the heart of historic Newport
This casually elegant Victorian inn was built in 1879 during the Gilded Age and is perfectly situated in the heart of Newport, Rhode Island. Originally the home of Steven Powell, a prominent physician and sea captain, and his wife Henrietta, Noah Webster's great-granddaughter, it is now one of Newport's most gracious inns.
A generous continental plus breakfast is served daily and includes freshly baked pastries, homemade granola, fruit salads, fresh-squeezed juices and specially blended coffee. Breakfast is served in the dining room and the porch/patio weather permitting. Guests also have access to a small pantry, stocked with water, coffee and tea.
In addition to the Victorian main inn, the adjacent Carriage House provides additional guest rooms and an intimate space for small meetings or gatherings.
The location of the inn is ideal and very central to many of Newport's most popular attractions, such as the Cliff Walk, the fabled mansions, beaches and historic harborfront. Outstanding shops and restaurants are also just a short walk away.
Whether the purpose of your visit is business or pleasure, adventure or relaxation, let your Newport experience begin at The Old Beach Inn.
